Lynnie is a News Reporter for the

Lynnie began working for The Defender in Fall 2023 as a member of their inaugural fellowship program. During the fellowship, Lynnie covered sports for local high school teams and wrote stories that highlighted racism in athletics as well stories that celebrated the achievements of Black student-athletes.

Lynnie also covered stories beyond sports, taking on the international discourse surrounding the occupation in Palestine and platforming the voices and stories of local Palestinian-Americans.

As a reporter, Lynnie covers current news and education.

As a freelance writer and photographer, Lynnie maximizes any free time to hone their craft at local coffee shops and photo walks around the city. Their writing involves a variety of creative expressions that explore identity, self-reflection, heartbreak, and relationships while navigating the intersectionalities of race, gender-fluidity, and sexuality. Their photography focuses on the beauty of landscape, capturing the details of infrastructure, design, and layout as well as communities interwoven by landscape development.
